The company was founded in 1978 as an industry for the production of beds and furnishings for the residential market. In 1985 it produced, first in Italy, self-adjusting beds for home and hospital use, as well as the production of technical furnishings and accessories.

From the collaboration with the healthcare sector, Habitat Italiana developed the first waterproof and breathable antibacterial mattress covers in 1990, responding to specific requests for technical performance for the long hospital stay.
